[Computer selected and disseminated without FBIS editorial intervention] Tokyo, Sept. 7 Kyodo -- Defense Agency Director General Gen Nakatani left Friday for the United States, Indonesia and East Timor, government officials said. Nakatani is scheduled to attend ceremonies commemorating the 50th anniversaries of the signings of the Treaty of Peace with Japan and the Japan-U.S. Security Treaty in San Francisco on Saturday, they said. Foreign Minister Makiko Tanaka will also attend the events. The defense chief will be in Indonesia on Monday flying in via Hong Kong for talks with his local counterpart and other defense officials. He plans to arrive in East Timor on Wednesday for an inspection and to meet with local leaders and United Nations officials to discuss the possibility of sending members of Japan's Self-Defense Forces to a U.N. peacekeeping mission there. The Defense Agency chief will return home on Sept. 15.
