[8-18] This striking mountain formation rises 604 meters above Lysefjord. [8-19] For almost 100 years, people have come here, felt vertigo on the edge of the abyss and admired the fantastic panorama out over Lysefjord and the surrounding mountains. [8-20] In 2001, 90 000 people conquered Preikestolen - and they came from a number of countries. [8-21] The hike from the parking lot and out to the Preikestol plateau itself is just 4 kilometers, but it still takes 2 hours each way. [8-22] The fine trail is constructed in the best Norwegian traditions. [8-23] The trip has a difference in altitude of 350 meters and requires relatively good physical condition and good footwear. [8-24] The last portion goes along a dizzying cliff high above Lysefjord. [8-25] The weather may change abruptly, so remember rainwear, warm clothing, food and beverages in your rucksack. [8-26] But the experience is worth the effort, regardless of the weather! [8-27] Centrally located in the heart of Scandinavia is Trysil. [8-28] 210 km from Oslo, 470 km from Stockholm and 500 from Gothenburg. [8-29] You drive along good roads to Trysil, well posted with signs and without having to cross mountain passes. [8-30] It is a short distance between gas stations and rest areas. [8-31] Trysil is located a short distance from airports, ferry landings, central railroad stations and bus terminals. [8-32] Oslo Airport Gardermoen is only 160 kilometers away. [8-33] Several times a day there are buses from the airport to Trysil. [8-34] The Trysil Express has a stop right outside the arrivals hall and gets you to Trysil in 2 hours and 50 minutes. [8-35] If you come by bus or train to Oslo, it is the easiest thing in the world to travel on to Trysil. [8-36] From Galleriet bus station, the Trysil Express has several departures daily. [8-37] Whether by ferry, airplane, train or car - your skiing adventure is only a few hours away. [8-47] The most popular souvenirs are knitted sweaters and jackets, tin and silver items, porcelain, hand-painted or Norwegian rose-painted wooden objects, goat and reindeer hides, woven tapestries, furs, handwork, glass, crystal and ceramics. [8-48] The natural surroundings are in themselves an attraction at Fosen - and not only for the eyes. [8-49] Sounds, smells and tastes from the sea and mountains provide generous sensual experiences for those who are open to trying and experiencing them. [8-50] Fosen is also able to display some of the oldest traces of human settlement in Norway, and these are in fact more than 11 000 years old.
